Yesterday was a milestone for me. TNT went back to Yokohl on Saturday and we walked 10 miles. If you ask coach we walked 5 miles up and 5 miles back so really we weren't walking 10 miles. In doing this training I have met so many good people that have filled my mind with positive sayings and thoughts and my negative thoughts are starting to dwindle. I can't wait to finish in San Diego and think to myself...I freaking did it. I am even more excited to be able to say and I helped to save lives.
Our team is amazing and the people are wonderful. Jamie is a teammate of mine and she is always pushing me beyond my limits giving me encouragement and bow chicka wow wow's which is a team saying for some reason or another. To walk 10 miles seems like such a distance especially when you are only halfway but tell me how you would feel when you have a survivor walking with you??? Is that not the most motivating feeling ever? This journey has been so amazing.
Yesterday when we reached the 4 mile marker I was so happy because I thought it was the 5th mile meaining we would be able to turn back around....wrong it was only the 4th and walking Yokohl is not all flat land it has hills and valleys but it can be a challenge so needless to say at 4 miles I was tuckered and looking for a little ray of hope that we were already 5 miles out and halfway done. But we weren't...oh and thank God for Ipod's. It keeps me moving and it is so funny how some tunes can put an extra pep in your step. Nothing like Britney Spears to get me moving or a teammate.
In the begginning of the workout my shins were hurting so bad but by the 2nd mile they seemed to calm down. Jelly Belly makes sports beans that you pop in your mouth with a little water that seem to do the trick and fuel you with extra needed energy. By the end my feet felt like they were on fire and I was afraid to sit down because I knew it was going to hurt to get moving again and it was but so worth it. There really isn't a feeling like the feeling of the burn after a good workout.
This week we have several team walks lined up and some workouts at the gym together as well. We have team walk on Tuesday at the COS track to track our timing to make sure we are well on track. For a marathon you must keep you pace at least at 17 minute miles or they have to open the roads back up to traffic. So they pace us to see where we stand. I know I will be okay because in the beggining of my walks I am walking 14 minute miles and work myself up to 15 minute miles in the end of a workout but we still have like 2.5 months for the marathon and my goal would be to to 14 minute mile the whole way through. Then we have an early wake up call for Rocky Hill which would make my 3rd time defeating that beast of what they call a hill when actually I have to believe that it is a mountain at best...for sure it is not a hill.
I will be posting regularly now...I started a new job this week and things have gotten a little hectic but all the hard work is starting to pay off. Also, this week I am attempting a new diet to go along with all of this working out....I hope it works for many reasons :)
Oh and to Coach I hope your 10 pm call was well worth the wait....VIVA.... Ha HA
