So I obviously have soo much to tell but my eyelids are getting heavy. I am still training and we have worked our way up to 16 miles but went back to 12 this week for reasons I am still not even sure about. I am still loving the team but wrestling with the donations. I have started a new job and a few other new chapters in my life and the donation part has kind of taken a back seat. Hense my late night posting. Training is going well and I have started to ponder being a mentor for the team next season. I love training and I can't imagine life without it but I am not sure that our plans for life will fit into the demanding schedule of training but I am going to let God handle things and I am sure he will point me in the right direction.
Last training was a 12 mile session where we started at the water tower in Exeter and made our way up Rocky Hill drive, we made a right on the canal before the hill and worked our way up and over Meyers Hill and through Yokohl road and came up the backside of Rocky Hill and down back to the water tower. This has been the most beautiful trip so far. It was so gorgeous and the weather and company were just right. I crave Yokohl now...it seems like a place where I can gather my senses and have peaceful moments alone in my head that are clear. Also I have such a great team and they make my early morning Saturday wakeup calls soo worth it.
I am thinking of ways to raise my last half of my committment and I am thinking of a yardsale and would like to ask you for any items you would like to donate. It would help you get rid of stuff you don't need and you will be helping save lives. Speaking of saving lives...I got this email this week from a survivor by the name of Sam Cushing.,
All,
As we head in to the Spring season, I am reminded of all that is new and good in the world – in our community.
Today, I am the proud parent of an Honor Roll recipient who has managed to read over 1,000,000,000 words since the beginning of school in August -- She is all that I was not at that age.
Last week, I attended the brief funeral of a pet lizard named “Sweet-cheeks” and watched our son cope with his loss. His genuine love and sincerity is all the strength I need.
And yesterday… yesterday I witnessed our youngest protect his little friend, Briar against the impending attack of purple alligators. He has the heart of a lion and is my savior.
Thank you all on behalf of Wil and I as we continue to benefit from your generosity and perseverance.
All my love,
Sam
It warms my heart to know that this organization has helped to benefit and impact her life soo much. In orientation at Fresno Pacific we were told about a woman who found out she had cancer while going to Fresno Pacific. She never missed a class despite her treatments and a newborn and she honestly kept me going all throughout school and I have never even met her. She did so much for me and taught me sooo much about life with not even knowing and I feel so blessed to be able to give back to her to help make her life a little easier even it it means going to a pet lizard's funeral. I met her this weekend in person and she is very beautiful and so full of life. You have to think of the times we have been mad at this world for what it has given us but you have to look at people like Sam and really take a good look into your soul and start appreciating all that you have and not all that you don't. I think we need to be reminded to be thankful especially for your health because people like Sam have come to recognize how important life is. It is for her that I will continue to seek donations and get blisters and want to cry every time I am done with a long walk because she is teaching me a new kind of suffering which is to give of myself to help make the lives of others a little easier.
