Twelve Week Milestones

Here we are at another week. Goodness next week you will be three months old. How is this happening? Time is just flying by. Sometimes when I watch you sleep at night laying next to me in your bassinett I think I might cry because you are getting so big so fast. I can't complain because you are one healthy and happy baby but my goodness could life slow down just a little. I still have yet to do your 11 week post but I have ran into a few snags with the camera so that should be up shortly or at least before the end of the week. Mommy has been so tired lately but I promise to have it up so we can keep it for your records.

So this week (week 12)

Week 12 Milestones
He should definitely be able to laugh out loud by now. He might even be able to laugh in response to you. If you pull your baby up to a standing position, it is possible that he might be able to put some weight on his legs, although he will still be very unsteady.

A fun new development that you may begin noticing in your 3-month-old baby is name recognition. Your little one knows her name now. If you put her down, in her high chair, crib, or even the floor (facing away from you), call out a few things. Then call out her name -- just watch -- she'll turn or try to turn to you and see why you are calling her.

Around this age, your baby has discovered an endless source of enchantment--his hands. He's realized that those fingers and thumbs are separate objects. He can also bring his hands together, look at them, then put them to his mouth to taste. Let him experiment with these wonderful tools by offering different textures for him to feel--a velvet scarf or a rubbery toy. Just make sure it's clean!

So Madisen, as far as the milestones go you are right in line if not further ahead. You have been laughing for quite some time and I absolutely love it. You especially laugh a lot in the morning when you are just waking up and at night when we give you a bath. You are a lot like your Daddy in the morning really really happy. Not so much like me who is crabby crabby. :)

I think you are definitely getting to know your name. When I say your name you just smile at me with your mouth full of gums. It literally is the cutest thing I have ever seen in my life. Nothing in life compares to your smile. It makes me feel like I am on cloud 9.

You are in love with your hands and have been for some time. You love to shove them in your mouth but I have noticed recently that you have figured out that you can suck on your thumb. I have caught you before sucking on your thumb but I think it was by accident but this week I feel like you are really sucking on it. Your Auntie says that we are very lucky that you are a self soother. I agree but I think we are lucky for many more things.

You are the light of our life Madisen. These last 12 weeks have taken my breathe away. I cannot believe we have our baby in our hands and how absolutely gorgeous you are. God really did answer all of our prayers when he gave you to us. I pray each day that you will grow up strong, healthy, happy and full of love.

I promise to post pics as soon as I get my camera issues worked out. I will edit this post to do a comparison of a twelve week old baby in the womb to a twelve week baby outside of the womb. I will probably continue that until week 40. :)
