Night Time Routine

What is your night time routine? Here at our home we have been trying to give Madisen a bath by 7:30, then a baby massage with lotion, a book and then I rock her in my glider with lullabies on a cd player. Then we feed her and she is put down in her bassinet. She always falls asleep in my arms while in the glider but when I put her down she wakes right away. I know some of you would be against rocking your baby to sleep but I consider that our special time. After all I dreamed of these moments for many many years and now that they are here I am going to savor every minute.

I want to know what your routine is and how it works for you. We are still working on ours and hoping to get some good ideas from you.

If you read to your baby which books are your favorite?

  1. I love how much you're enjoying being a mommy! It is the sweetest thing to see. Here's what we shoot for with our nighttime routine (Eve is almost 4 months now): feeding around 6ish, then a nice warm bath, which Eve loves. Then she and I and her dad, if he's home, get on the floor on a blanket and get her dressed for bed and have special time with her, talking and giving kisses and tickles. This may stimulate some kids too much, but she loves this special time with us. Then she gets swaddled and goes down by 7.

  2. I love night time too and putting our Foster girls down, this has always been my favorite time with any of our Foster children! We usually bathe the girls by 7:30 or 8 pm as well, then lotion them up, pj's and quiet time! We have to put Sissy Girl's eye patch on for an hour so we read books with her and Baby gets her last bottle for the night! I usually hold Baby girl or rock her as well, she usually conks out on me, she is tired and usually goes to bed by 8:30, Sissy we let stay up until 9! When each of us go in, sometimes we trade off putting them in their beds or we do it together but when we lay them down we do cuddles and kisses, tell them sweet dreams and we love them and will see them in the morning! Some of our favorite books are Good Night Moon, Good Night(A touch and feel Bed time book) Eight Silly Monkeys(Sissy's fav) and First Words!!! I don't think there is anything with rocking a baby to sleep, it is the best and they are only little for so long! Enjoy the precious moments!! =)

  3. I love your blog! We are still figuring out a routine but pretty much do the same thing as you are doing. Here was our evening tonight...bath around 7:30 then snuggle and lotion, breastfeed, story "If Kisses Were Colors" (really cute book) then I sang to him and rocked him for about 20 min. Then I turned on classical music and continued to rock him. He gets really drowsy but didn't fall asleep. When I put him in bed he was still awake and looked around for awhile then went to sleep. He woke up once and wanted his paci...it fell out:) I usually feed him again around 10 or 11 even if he's still sleeping to get him through the night. He's been sleeping 5-6 hours usually at night. Isn't it the most amazing thing in the whole world to be a mommy?!! I love it and I know you do too. Your little princess is absolutely stunning! I'm so happy for you guys!

    xoxo
