Yokhol Valley Road

Training started around 7am on Saturday morning and I loved it. It is absolutely gorgeous out right now on Yokohl Road. It is quite, green, peaceful and a buzz with runners, bikers and walkers all looking to do their part to help save the lives of others. There are also other runners, bikers and walkers out there as well keeping up with their health.
We walked 6 miles amongst the cows and their big eyes slightly moving their heads wondering what these people where doing in their territory. I think a couple of times you could hear them moo, GO TEAM...I did a great job on Saturday and kept my miles between 14-15 minute miles. In order to participate in a marathon you need to make sure that your miles are at least 17 minutes are less. So far I am doing fabulous in the arena. My legs weren't achy and I know it is in part to my trainin throughout the week. If I didn't train I don't know how I would be able to walk the next day.
Team in Training helps you in soo many ways. You get to meet new people and hear why they are out participating in this event. You will meet surgeons who have been brought to their knees because a patient has impacted their life in such a strong way. You will hear unemployed people out their because it helped them to know that they are making a difference even without making a paycheck. It helps them to feel alive. There is soo much encouragement and there is no negativity and that is where I need to be right now. I need a place of positive encouragement.
I am proud to say that I was the 2nd walker in this walk. For the most of the walk I was with the first walker who is totally motivating to me. She gave birth just 15 days ago and is out there kicking butt. Not many women would be up for what she has enlisted in a mere 15 days after giving birth.
After training we had a nutrition clinic which was very informative and gave some good info on how we should train and test products out today for our races in May. After hearing some of the stories I have to say I am a little concerned. I heard that some people have some real stomach issues after the race or during which in concerning. Not one to visit a public restroom let a lone a port of potty out on the marathon trail. YUCK I would die but as they say when Nature Calls.
Finally, there was a honoree out at training this week by the name of Katie. She in so inspiring she is studying to become a nurse and I am so proud and happy for her. I wish her a life full of happiness and health because she deserves it. Next weeks goes to 8 miles and each week we increase two more miles. Wish me luck...although I feel pretty good about where I am at right now and have all the confidence that I will be able to accomplish this task.

By the way I have raised over $700 dollars so far!!!!! Thank you to all of you who have helped me. It means so much to me and the world to Leukemia, Myeloma and Lymphoma patients. I bow to you in appreciation.
