Four weeks

I cannot believe that you are four weeks old already. I feel like they just placed you into my arms today. Every day I fall more in love with you Madisen and you have your Daddy wrapped around your little long fingers already. You have grown so much in such a short amount of time. Don't you remember our talk about you staying little forever??? Well you are really not holding up your side of the bargain.

At four weeks Madisen you continue to have super human baby powers. You are lifting your head so much and we can tell your little neck muscles are getting so strong. You love to have your hands right in front of your mouth which makes it hard to feed you because you are so strong and fight to move your hands. This week Daddy and I caught you trying to hold your bottle on your own. You were two fisted, but you were holding your own bottle and we were both cracking up because it was like you were telling Mommy to pay attention while feeding you because I have a tendency to try to multi task.



You are still eating 4 oz and on some days you want a little more and some a little less. I think your big growth spurts are prompting the little more days. Mommy has been trying to put you on a schedule this week...you are doing great but you hate to be put down for a nap. You want Mommy or Daddy to hold you all the time but duty calls and so do other household chores. Your cousins have been so helpful to Mommy trying to give me all the info I need to put you on a schedule. Like I said you do great with your feedings and wake time and you would sleep great during naps if you were in a kangaroo pouch somewhere in my body. I love that you love and trust us soo much but Daddy and I are trying to make you a good sleeper and we hope that someday putting you down for naps gets easier. If not Mommy might have a lot less hair trying to figure out different ways to get you to sleep.



Angela brought you a new bassinet and you love it when you actually fall asleep in it. It is so pretty and soft. Your Grandma brought you a new swing because you weren't too big of a fan of the one that Mommy and Daddy bought you. You love the new swing because it has a mirror where you can see yourself and you love the mobile as well. You cry when the rainforest noise goes off because of the timer so Mommy is constantly having to press restart.




Our family and friends have been so wonderful to you and us Madisen. You love taking your baths now and love that Auntie Nickie gave you a little fish towel that covers you up while Mommy or Daddy washes you down. It is so cute. You just coo and stare at us while we bathe you and you make my heart melt every time. I still cannot get over the fact that you are mine and God gave you to us to love and cuddle and watch grow forever.

Daddy and Mommy have been reading to you a lot during your wake times. You love to sit and stare at us while we read. We have been reading you poems, long and short stories and we can tell that at night you listening to our voice helps to soothe you and prepare you for nightime.

We have been going to visit a few friends this week and you do such a great job. Eveyone compliments you on how good of a baby you are. We are so fortunate that you really are a good baby. This week you also got to see your BFF Mckynlie. Your Auntie Nickie and I can't wait to watch you two grow up together.



Here are a few highlights from 4 weeks.


-You wake at 5AM to eat and you fall back to sleep until 7:30 or 8AM

-You are on a schedule most days.

-You are doing great at eating. You eat every three hours during the day.You are like clockwork when it comes to your food.

-Daddy and I are trying to figure out a night time routine with you and we think we got it. Feed, bath, reading and sleep.

-You are beginning to smile a lot and it is heart melting every time. You have the biggest smile and a mouth full of gums ;)

-You haven't deciced whether or not you like a pacifier. You certainly don't like it when you are in a fussy mood you just spit it right out. But if Mommy is rocking you, you will suck on your pacifier until you fall asleep and then you just spit it right out.

-You are in size one diapers, and we aren't even sure if you should be in newborns or ones but for right now we haven't had any leaks and we got a whole lot of size one diapers from your Grandma and Grandpa

-You are finally fitting into your 0-3 month clothes and Mommy couldn't be happier because you have so many cute clothes you are just a doll and I love to put big matching bows on you to match.

-I am not sure how much you weigh as we don't go to the doctor until next week, but I think that you are at least 10 pounds if not more.

-You like your bouncer and swing. When Mommy takes a shower you sit in your bouncer in the bathroom and watch and listen to the water. You crack me up because when Mommy turns on her hair dryer you instantly fall asleep which is great. I have even used it when you are fussy and not wanting to go down for your nap and you do the same, you instantly fall asleep.




-You love your hands and like to suck on them often especially when you are hungry.

We love watching you grown and figuring out his world Madisen. We look forward to all of your big milestones but treasure these moments right now that we have with you. You have made our hearts swell to a size we didn't think capable. There really is no love like a love between a parent and a child.
